A, historic native woodland project in Inistioge could bring the South-East its first National Park.
The Woodstock Estate and nearby forests are shortlisted as one of just 14 locations nationwide for a major environmental rollout.
Hundreds of locals packed the community hall to hear details of the masterplan.
Organisers say the project aims to tap into a 700-million-euro annual state fund, which will help build flood defences, protect private water wells, and boost local ecotourism.
