There’s no doubt but that they opening day of the 2015 Cheltenham Festival belonged to local man Willie Mullins who won all 4 of the Grade 1 races on the card
The Closutton trainer got off to an incredible start with Douvan taking the opening Supreme Novices hurdle, Un de Sceaux followed up to win the Arkle and there was an historic 1-2-3 for the local stables in the featured Champion Hurdle with Faugheen, Arctic Fire and Hurricane Fly. The big surprise for punters was the Mares Hurdle when hot favourite Annie Power fell at the last. But stable-mate Glens Melody came home at 6-1 instead
Mullins spoke afterwards saying it was probably the best ever day for his stables.
