Homes in South Kilkenny could be without electricity for most of today

Hundreds of homes in South Kilkenny could be without electricity for much of the day.

ESB networks says a major fault means power is out in Mullinavat, Mooncoin, Inistioge, Glenmore and Haggard since the early hours of this morning.

They expect it will be back by 6pm this evening.

Crews are working to restore power to thousands of homes in Waterford, Wexford and Cork too following last nights lightning strikes.
