Hundreds of thousands of euro is being granted to Kilkenny for group water scheme improvements.

Housing Planning and Local Government Minister Eoghan Murphy has announced an extra €3.7 million euro is to be given to local authorities around the country, on top of the €11.7 million already announced in June.

The money is for group water and group sewerage schemes under the Rural Water Programme 2017/2018 to improve the quaility of existing schemes.

Locally, Carlow is getting €75,000, while Kilkenny is getting more than four times that, at €302,000.

By far the lion’s share of the allocation is going to Mayo.

They’re getting a total of over €6.8 million, with Donegal coming in a distant second at €1.1 million.
