Ice Bucket challenge donations pass the million euro mark
Irish donations for the Ice Bucket Challenge have now passed one million euro.
The Irish Motor Neurone Disease Society says donations coming in from the online craze have now reached the one-million mark – and are still coming in strong.
It says it’ll donate a quarter of the money to research into the disease – with the rest going towards services for Irish sufferers.
Meanwhile local Fine Gael Deputy Pat Deering joined KCLRs Sue Nunn this morning in accepting the challenge.
They and others were soaked in icy cold water on Dublin Street in Carlow for the charity.
Deputy Deering made a few nominations himself including his own son Michéal, Minister Leo Varadkar and Carlow Rose Miriam Smyth.
