The brand new IDA building in Carlow should be built and ready to house a new company by the end of next Summer.
The Advance Building Solution is one of 19 being set up across the country with the aim of attracting Foreign Direct Investment to the county.
Covid had delayed construction of the project but the groundwork got underway at the site on the Dublin Road in the past few weeks.
IDA South East Regional Manager Brendan McDonald says it’s an exciting development for Carlow:
“Work has commenced in recent weeks by Kilcawley construction on a new Advance Building Solution which is going to be 2930 metres squared, so a mix of production space and office space over two floors. So it’s a flexible facility that will have some expansion potential aswell”
He says the nature of the project means there’s no tenant yet, but the IDA is working on that:
“We are actively marketing this property to potential client companies who we are looking to attract into Carlow, into the South East. We are building it as an Advance Building which means we don’t have a client for it at the minute but are actively marketing the Building Solution so having these Building Solutions makes Carlow more attractive to foreign direct investment”
