“I’m thoroughly convinced that without this helmet here I would not be speaking to you now” says Kilkenny based cyclist following road incident

A local cyclist has credited his bicycle helmet with saving his life and believes helmets should be mandatory for all cyclists.

Kerry native Jim O’Connor, who is based in Thomastown, made the comments on the KCLR Daily after he was knocked from his bike following a collision with a car at the weekend.

After being thrown into the air Jim landed on his head which led medical experts to advise him that without his helmet, he would have suffered life-changing injuries.
