Former national road champion Imogen Cotter says today’s fourth stage of Rás na mBan will be a brutal test for the riders.
The 88-kilometre route finishes with two climbs of the Corrabut Gap after it got underway from the Carlow County Council Offices this morning.
Ireland’s Aliyah Rafferty is just ten seconds off the lead and in contention for the overall victory.
Ms. Cotter says the climb is going to test the competitors.
“Making our way towards Mount Leinster, but finishing up the Corrabut Gap. They’re going up that not once, but twice, and it’s a category 1 climb, which is the toughest climb in this race. So, it’s the toughest classification of climb: 1.5 kilometers at 11%, and definitely something that the sprinters aren’t really going to be happy to see, I’m sure, after after having such a difficult finish as well into Carrick-on-Suir.”
