Amalgamating Kilkenny and Carlow’s library and fire services would mean a loss of economy and democracy in both counties.
That’s according to IMPACT trade union who are calling for us to tackle our election candidates on where they stand on those plans.
The union started a campaign, in January 2015, to retain fire and library services in counties where amalgamations were proposed.
Now its stepped up its campaign by writing to local councillors and election candidates.
Speaking to KCLR News, Assistant General Secretary with IMPACT, Shay Clinton says that the councils in both counties have given their support.
