The abolition of milk quotas and the resulting increase in farming activity is not likely to lead to an increase in farm deaths, according to the Kilkenny IFA chairman.
Embrace Farm, a group set up to support the families who have lost loved ones in farming accidents, say that the abolition of quotas will increase risks on farms.
30 people died on Irish farms last year, up from 16 fatalities in 2013.
However John Bambrick, Kilkenny IFA chairman, says that those getting involved in the dairy industry will have a good knowledge of farm hazards.
