Walter Lacey’s ruled himself out of running ine the Carlow Kilkenny Bye-election.
The election’s expected next year after Phil Hogan vacates his Dail seat to take up a job on the EU Commission.
Independent Councillor Lacey ran in the 2007 general Election for the PDs and says he wouldn’t fancy making that commitment again.
But he says the local and EU elections in May proved that an Independent candidate would have a strong chance.
