Industrial action against new Junior Cert wont impact on classes say teachers unions

Teachers say their industrial action against Junior Cert reform won’t impact on classes when it begins this morning.

Members of the ASTI and TUI unions say they won’t take part in any meetings, planning or training for Minister Ruairi Quinn’s reforms.

They say their concerns about marking papers from their own students aren’t being listened to.

It comes amid speculation that the Leaving Cert could be next in line for changes.
