The woman hospitalised following a serious crash in Carlow this morning is understood to have suffered a broken leg
She was trapped in the car for a time following the collision which happened before 9am this morning on the old Tullow road near Kernanstown.
A helicopter was requested to help airlift the patient but snow at the time meant it couldn’t respond to the request. She was taken instead by ambulance to hospital.
The stretch of road had closed following the incident but re-opened shortly before lunchtime.
