Carlow has produced many fine musicians and bands and is a quietly insistent creative force. It’s always great to see a new generation coming through and it was lovely to catch up with two of them, James Strain (AKA Auxililary Phoenix) and Callum Browne, label head at Little League Records.
At the risk of seeming patronizing (and I’m not) it’s hard not to be a little amazed at what James and Callum have achieved for their age but it’s a tribute to them and their take on the opportunites that the latest technological offers.
We chat about the process of recording in the digital age and the issues around being a label boss…and the return of vinyl and cassettes!!
