Irish Rail agree to refund difference after Carlow school students were charged full adult fare on train

Irish Rail have agreed to refund the difference to a group of local secondary school students who took the train to Dublin yesterday but were charged full adult fares.
The pupils from Presentation De la Salle in Bagenalstown made their way to Croke park like thousands of others yesterday for a national flag ceremony to mark the 1916 centenary year.
But 3 teenagers were charged full price adult fares which came to €76.50 between them on the train.
Iarnrod Eireann says without an approved student card that is the fare that applies to over 16’s.
However a spokesperson said they would get in touch with the school to arrange to refund the difference.
