The National Transport Authority (NTA) has received an application to extend an existing bus service linking Kilkenny to Waterford at times convenient to those accessing secondary and third level education. This would be similar to what’s already in place between Kilkenny and Carlow.
If approved, this would mean students could arrive in Waterford at 8:10am each weekday, matching the existing 365 service which links Kilkenny to Carlow.
Those backing the proposal believe it would also create a fresh transport connection in South Kilkenny for those wishing to access services at University Hospital Waterford (UHW) and would also enhance socialising opportunities to and from the city across the south of the county.
KCLR News spoke to Piltown Municipal District Councillor Tomás Breathnach (Lab) about the proposal which he has played a key part in developing.
