Convicted drug dealer John Gilligan remains in hospital after being shot in West Dublin last night.
A garda man hunt is underway for two men believed to be involved in the shooting.
The terraced house belonging to John Gilligan’s brother on Geensfort Crescent in Clondalkin remains sealed off this morning as Gardaí carry out a full examination of the scene.
The convicted drug dealer was shot in the chest and leg here around 7 o’clock yesterday evening.
Gardai are searching for two men who fled in a car after the shooting.
John Gilligan had been attending a family get together.
This is the same place he first visited after his release from Portlaoise Prison last October.
Two masked men entered the house at around 7pm and he was shot at least twice in the chest and leg.
His head was also grazed by a bullet and he was rushed to Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown.
Gilligan had been warned his life was in danger after a gunman went into a pub looking for him last December.
He’d only been released from prison two months beforehand after serving 17 years for drug dealing.
John Gilligan remains in a critical condition this morning but his injuries are not said to be life threatening.
