Plans are moving forward to secure funding for the repair of a pedestrian bridge linking counties Kilkenny and Tipperary.
The crossing at Killonerry has been closed since suffering flood damage last November.
Kilkenny and Tipperary County Councils are working together to progress repairs to Killonerry Bridge over the River Lingaun.
The two authorities are preparing a joint funding application under the Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Scheme, with Kilkenny proposed as the lead authority.
The bridge was closed on safety grounds following structural damage caused by flooding in November 2025.
It also forms part of the South Leinster Way, a 104-kilometre walking route connecting counties Carlow, Kilkenny and Tipperary.
Local representatives have welcomed the joint approach, saying the bridge is an important link for communities and walkers in the area.
