The Government is being asked to make €15m available from the new broadcasting charge, for the independent media sector.
The charge, which comes into effect next year, is expected to raise in the region of €200m from 1.7 million households.
Independent Radio is 25 years old this year, employing around 1500 people in 34 stations.
KCLR’s John Purcell, who’s also Chairman of the Independent Broadcasters of Ireland says they’re going to the Government with a costed and transparent plan.
He’s appeared before the Oireachtas Committee on Communications this evening.
