KCLR has announced the launch of Weekend Breakfast, a brand-new Saturday morning show airing from 7-10am across Kilkenny and Carlow, with Kilkenny native Aisling McDonald confirmed as its permanent presenter.
The show launches this Saturday, April 4th, replacing The Breakfast Buffet and bringing a sharper focus to everything listeners need to ease into their weekend.
Weekend Breakfast is positioned as the perfect companion to kick off your Saturday, with a mix of new music features, the key news and information to get you up and running, and a real sense of the weekend ahead for those living in, working in and up and about early in Kilkenny and Carlow.
One popular feature won’t be going anywhere, though, with Ireland’s Easiest Quiz persisting on weekends, played off between 9 and 10am, giving listeners a chance to get involved and start their Saturday with a wallet booster. This Saturday’s jackpot sits at €1,100 and could be yours if you can answer 10 of Ireland’s easiest questions inside the 30-second time limit.
Aisling McDonald, already familiar to KCLR listeners having presented on Saturday mornings in recent months, along with producing The Saturday Show with Edward Hayden, now takes permanent ownership of the slot.
A Kilkenny native, Aisling brings a genuine connection to the communities KCLR serves. Dialled into movies, music and the rhythm of weekend life as a busy mother of two herself, she knows first-hand what Saturday mornings look like for the station’s listeners across Kilkenny and Carlow.
“Saturday mornings have a magic of their own, and I’ve loved every minute of being part of people’s weekends on KCLR over the past few months”, says McDonald.
“Weekend Breakfast feels like a real step forward. The show also launches with a new sponsor, Crown Kilkenny, Hair, Scalp and Wig specialists, located at their salon base on Kilkenny’s Ormonde St.
