KCLR LIVE: “There’s a terrible hollowness in our lives” husband of murdered Joyce Quinn

Speaking to KCLR Live ahead of Episode 4 of Marú Inár Measc, the TG4 true crime series, Ray Quinn recalls the events around his wife's murder

Ray Quinn, Joyce’s husband and an officer in the Defence Forces recalls the events of 1996, the impact Joyce’s murder has had on his family and his hopes for the future. 

Tonight marks the premiere of Episode 4 of Marú Inár Measc, the final episode in the the four-part series featuring compelling interviews with those closest to the cases as well as testimonies from gardaí, journalists, and members of the local communities.

Tonight’s episode takes the viewer back to 23rd January 1996, when shopkeeper and mother-of-three Joyce Quinn was murdered on the Curragh Plains, not far from her shop in Milltown, Kildare. 24 hours after disappearing, Joyce was found by her daughter. She had been beaten, raped and stabbed with a boning knife. Her killer, Miltown native Kenneth O’Reilly, continued his life un-phased, taking his girlfriend out for a meal immediately after the murder. O’Reilly was later convicted of murder but not rape, with the judge handing out a life sentence for the heinous crime.
