KCLR has picked up two nominations for this year’s Irish Music and Radio Organisation Awards.
Both entries come from the sports department with our sports story submission and live show submission securing nominations.
The sports story entry is titled A Great Day In November, built from the excitement and buzz of Ireland’s qualification for a World Cup play-off following wins over Portugal and Hungary.
The sports show entry opens with a montage from the celebrations of Muckalee as they captured the AIB All-Ireland ladies club football title to the Grand National homecoming at Leighlinbridge and the passion of Barrow Rangers in their county final win over O’Loughlin Gaels
KCLRs Operations and Programme manager Ken McGuire says it’s an exciting time: “It’s always an exciting time when the nominations come out, but to pick up two, especially for sports coverage, when you’re competing with the national broadcasters as well, it’s a huge bonus.”
