Kilkenny has been described as ‘an unmissable stop’ as Lonely Planet reveals its top Irish attractions.
In the 12th edition of its Irish guide it lists the top 21 things to do in Ireland.

Dublin, Connemara and the pub make up the top 3 while in at number 16 is Kilkenny city with special reference made to its ‘regal castle’ and ‘soaring medieval cathedral’.
Attending a hurling or gaelic football match come in at number 19.
Other top attractions on the list include the Ring of Kerry, the Rock of Cashel and Glendalough.
