Kilkenny has announced that Tommy Shefflin will take over as their new senior camogie manager.
Shefflin, who has a history with the senior camogie team as part of Brian Dowling’s management team in Kilkenny’s All-Ireland victories in 2020 and 2022, now steps into the top job, bringing a wealth of experience and recent success.
This season, Shefflin also coached with Piltown, helping them to a county title. His nomination as senior camogie manager will be sent forward for ratification at the upcoming County Board meeting, where he is expected to be officially confirmed in the role.
Peter “Chap” Cleere, who took over the team last year, stepped away due to work commitments. Reflecting on his time with the Kilkenny side, Cleere praised the team, saying, “They’re a fantastic group of players, and I know that core group will go from strength to strength. There’s an All-Ireland in that team.”
With Shefflin’s appointment, Kilkenny Camogie looks set to continue building towards success, with high hopes for a strong season ahead.
