Kilkenny children take home Pride of Ireland award for saving sister’s life

The mother of two Kilkenny children who were awarded the Young Person of Courage Award says it’s an amazing honour for them.

8-year-old Molly and 11-year-old Harry, from Ferrybank in South Kilkenny, were given the award at the Pride of Ireland 2016 ceremony on Monday night.

The two have had to resuscitate their little sister, who was born prematurely, on numerous occasions when she has stopped breathing and become unconscious.

They have been training with the Irish Red Cross where they learned the CPR technique.

Speaking to KCLR News today, their mother, Maria says the first time Harry saved Isabella’s life was when she was just a few weeks old, five years ago.
