It’s a case of ‘on your bike’ for Kilkenny city councillors later this morning.
They’re due to cycle from County Hall on John Street to the Newpark Family Resource Centre, where they’ll have their monthly meeting this afternoon.
The feat is being undertaken to encourage the use of cycle lanes and to mark the retirement of the centre’s long-serving manager Sheila Donnelly.
Mayor Joe Malone says they’ll be joined on the journey:
“We’re leaving County Hall over at their car pack around quarter past half past 12, cycling up to St. John Senior School. They will meet the young kids there, the Army is involved, the Gardaí are involved, and then we’re going to cycle a little route over to Newpark Family Resource Centre.”
