Kilkenny consultant says health system under pressure as Sligo Hospital apologises over death of mum

Sligo Regional Hospital has issued an apology to the husband and family of Sally Rowlette – who died in their care last year.

The 36 year old  died after giving birth to her 4th child in February 2013.

The jury at the inquest into Mrs Rowlette’s death returned a verdict of death by medical misadventure yesterday.

Meanwhile, a St Luke’s hospital consultant says its not just maternity services that are under pressure in the Health System.

Consultant obstetrician Ray O’Sullivan says the pressure points become clear when you take a billion or so euro out of the system.
