Kilkenny councillor claims Irish Water’s preventing the provision of housing in some areas

He also says such spots are under pressure as it's virtually impossible to get planning permission

A Kilkenny councillor’s claimed Irish Water is preventing the provision of housing in some local areas.

Speaking to KCLR News Denis Hynes outlined his frustrations with the utility over the lack of supportive infrastructure in places like Goresbridge, Gowran and Paulstown.

The local representative claims such areas are under pressure as it’s virtually impossible to get planning permission unless you also plan to sink your own well.

Cllr Hynes says a new system was supposed to have been installed years ago and notes “It’s time now it was sorted to give people an opportunity, for the local authority to come in, for social housing bodies to come in and provide homes for people in this area that need a home as well.  But we can’t have a situation here where people are being prevented from having a home because Irish Water are preventing putting in place the proper structure and means for us. I mean it’s just not good enough”
