A local councillor has criticised the recent expansion of CLÁR funding areas.
Cllr Joe Lyons says his area was left out while all new additions were focused in north Kilkenny and parts of Carlow.
Councillor Lyons says the programme is meant to support rural and disadvantaged communities and is vital for sustaining local projects.
“But whatever bit of funding they get is very important, and very important for the community, and especially the volunteers, you know, and it keeps the communities alive, and without the
funding, it’s very hard to keep going, whether it’s for the community hall, or whether it’s for signage, or for tours, and anything at all in the village or rural area, you know, it’s very important.” said Joe
