The preservation and conservation of historic structures is as vital for local communities as full restoration projects: that’s the view of Kilkenny County Councillor Joe Sheridan.
Just over €125,000 will be invested in Woodstock House at Inistioge thanks to monies made available through the Government’s Historic Structures Fund, where works to secure a collapsed section of the front elevation and missing internal walls will be carried out.
Cllr Sheridan describes these works as essential telling KCLR News; “It’s very important to preserve our past and obviously this is a very expensive process, the €125,000 for Woodstock that’ll go a long way towards it and without that grant funding it’s just not possible to carry out these works so it’s very, very welcome and it’s a great asset to all the villages and towns”.
