The future of a local councillor within her party remains unsure.
South Kilkenny’s Melissa O’Neill claims she made the decision to step down from Sinn Féin for health reasons – while other party members claim she was suspended following a video published at the weekend.
She can be seen in the video arguing with her neighbours and making obscene hand gestures.
Councillor O’Neill told KCLR News that she’s been subjected to long-term harassment by some members of the community.
But she says the video isn’t the only reason she has to attend a disciplinary hearing – she’s also had an ongoing issue with a fellow Sinn Féin member.
