Kilkenny County Council call in Gardai to secure access to CAS works

Kilkenny County Council says they are within their rights to call in the Gardai to prevent Anti-CAS protests delaying work on the new bridge.

Dozens of Gardai were deployed to escort a deisel tanker into the contruction site this morning.

Demonstrators were moved aside after they had blocked the delivery yesterday afternoon.

John McCormack is the Acting Dirctor of Services in charge of the CAS project.

He told KCLR today that the delays are costing Kilkenny taxpayers money and he’ll do what’s necessary to make sure the work goes ahead.
