A team of volunteers has been deployed by Kilkenny county council to make visitors to the city feel more welcome.
The initiative was first developed last year by the local authority.
The team of 21 volunteers are there to meet and greet visitors providing them with any information they might need.
They’ll be out and about in the busier parts of the city throughout the summer months and are there to engage with tourists and direct them to local attractions or other facilities they might enquire about.
The local authority says all of its volunteers are fully trained in Covid-19 protocols; public safety and comfort will be a priority at all times.
Tourism Officer Martina Comerford and Stephen Kennedy who is one of the team have been speaking to Sue Nunn on The Way it is about the initiative. You can hear more about the Kilkenny Welcome Team here.
