Kilkenny county council and An Taisce have now reached agreement on some elements of the planned Central Access scheme.
The county manager revealed to KCLR last week that the gable wall No 22 Vicar street would be retained when the road is constructed as a compromise.
In a statement now, both sides have agreed that an independent report will be done to ensure no compression can take place under any future road and no pipes or cables will be allowed under the road there in the future.
Also as Kilkenny County Council takes possession of the Diageo site, there will be more extensive excavations to interpret the Renaissance house at Vicar St and determine its full extent.
Excavations will continue south of the gable of No. 22 Vicar St with discussions to continue after the dig is complete.
The council maintains the view that the proposed bridge should be constructed while An Taisce does not agree with it however parties say they respect each other differences on this point.
