Kilkenny County Council is to contact Google to ensure it updates its speed limit information for the N25 between Waterford and New Ross.
At the Piltown Municipal District’s October meeting, Councillor Fidelis Doherty said that the app’s on-board car navigation option continued to state that the section of the N25 reduced to an 80 kilometre per hour speed limit last winter was still claiming that the road’s speed limit was one hundred kilometres per hour.
Speaking to KCLR News’ Dermot Keyes, Councillor Doherty described the glitch on Google Maps as staggering, noting “For anyone driving this area maybe for that five or six minutes where they’re driving for the nine kilometers that they think because Google Maps said it’s 100 kilometers an hour that that’s correct and that’s incorrect, so probably should have been done way before now but I didn’t realise that situation was there that Google Maps is still referring to the N25 Glenmore Roundabout down to Slieverue Roundabout as being 100kilometres an hour and that is not the reality, you know, under speed limit review it was agreed to be 80 and that’s what’s in place since the 10th of November, 2025”.
