Kilkenny county council to hold special meeting on flooding today

A special meeting of Kilkenny County Council will be held later to discuss the recent flooding.

The meeting was called by Cathaoirleach Mary Hilda Kavanagh after requests from a number of councillors to discuss the effects of the flooding and to look at how the council responded to it.

Parts of the county suffered severe flooding in the recent storms with Graiguenamanagh, Thomastown, Inistioge, Bennettsbridge, Freshford and Piltown some of the worst affected.

This afternoons meeting will examine how the council tackled the issues they faced and will hear reports from each of the electoral areas.
