A special meeting to debate and vote on a motion proposing a review of Kilkennys Central Access Scheme will be held this weekend.
Members of the county council should be on their Summer break by now but at an emergency meeting yesterday afternoon it was decided that they will gather on Saturday morning to discuss the matter.
In the meantime work will continue on the site near Greensbridge this morning where protestors have been demonstrating their opposition in recent weeks.
It’s expected that a decision will be reached on Saturday on whether a review is to be held or not but a number of the Fianna Fail members including the Mayor Andrew McGuinness has indicated that they will support the motion.
His colleague Joe Malone proposed the special meeting on Saturday, saying it’s needed as the whole issue has become very confusing and needs proper discussion.
