Kilkenny credit union to offer low cost loans for locals to upgrade energy efficiency of their homes

A Kilkenny credit union is to offer low cost loans to help people improve the energy efficiency of their homes.

St Canice’s Credit Union is setting aside a million Euro fund for the Community Energy Loan Scheme which is being run in conjuction with the Sustainable Energy Authority and the Carlow Kilkenny Energy Agency.

As well as offering low interest rates on the loan the credit union will also help you process a grant worth 30% of the cost.

Spokeperson Roisin Gilroy says it’s the first scheme of it’s kind anywhere in the country.
