Kilkenny Gardaí are warning us to watch out for what are called “Courier Card Scams.”
It’s when people pretend to be from your bank and arrange for your bank card to be collected from your home under the guise of “security reasons.”
The Banking & Payments Federation Ireland (BPFI) has highlighted a large number of these scams taking place recently.
Inspector Paul Donohoe says no bank will ever ask you for these details.
“I would like to say to people that no one will ever from a bank ring you on a phone, they’ll never ask you for a pin code, they never do, and they most definitely no one
from your bank call to your house.” said Paul.
“So if you are getting these text messages or phone calls, please contact your local Garda station immediately and we’ll act on that then.” he added.
