A takeaway delivery rider is facing a mandatory court appearance after Kilkenny Gardaí seized an illegal 1,000-watt e-moped last night.
Officers stopped the vehicle travelling at 40kmh with no lights through Kilkenny City.

Because the high-powered machine had throttle-only capability, it is legally classified as an L1e-B moped, requiring a driving licence, registration, tax, and insurance.
The vehicle was seized and faces destruction unless a District Court appeal is successful.
