Kilkenny man Phil Hogan nominated for key UN role

One of Kilkenny’s most prominent political figures has been nominated Ireland’s candidate for a key UN role.

Tullaroan native Phil Hogan’s in the running to be the next Director-General of the body’s Food & Agriculture Organisation.

A former Fine Gael Kilkenny councillor, TD, Minister and EU Commissioner, if he secures the position it would be the first time in five decades for a European country’s representative to do so.
