People from a homeless service are marching in Kilkenny city this lunchtime, to highlight the deepening housing crisis.
The Good Shepherd Centre Kilkenny provides services to women, men and families experiencing or at risk of homelessness.
The organisation says it will march today and throughout this month, to demand ‘real action’ from the Government.
Noel Sherry, CEO of The Good Shepherd Centre, says more supports are needed for those in emergency accommodation: ”If you’re taking a person from chronic homelessness off the streets into a house from the housing first team then clinical supports are available. However, someone living in emergency accommodation only has access to GP and some local supports.”
