Kilkenny Medieval Mile Marathon sees up to 1,000 runners taking part
The route will take in some of the most historic sites in the city

Up to 1,000 particpants are taking part in the Medieval Mile Marathon in Kilkenny City today.
The various races have a staggered start with the Full Marathon underway from 9:45am, the 30K from 10:00 am with the Half Marathon starting at 10:15am from ORmonde Street.
The 10K starts later at 11am from the new St Francis Bridge in the city.
The route will take in some of the most historic sites in the city before winding out on to country roads before making its way back to Kilkenny to finish in front of Butler Gallery in the heart of the city.
Gardai are advising of intermittant traffic disruption in the city, particularly in the John Street and Bateman’s quay areas until 4pm this evening.
Motorists are asked to allow additional time for journeys and to be patient throughout the race.
