Kilkenny people waiting on the Community Involvement Scheme could wait years for work to be done

If you’ve an application lodged for the Community Involvement Scheme you could be waiting up to 12 years to see the work done.

The C.I.S. sees a joint approach between county councils and local communities for the carrying out of maintenance and improvement works on suitable public regional and local roads.

At today’s meeting of the Castlecomer municipal district earlier Cllr Mary Hilda Cavanagh called for clarification on the criteria for it and for the Local Improvement Scheme, which is for private lanes and avenues, as well as on whether it’s the council or the Department who makes final decisions.
