Should the Church locally be putting money into bricks and stone or into the care of the people?
That’s the question that one Kilkenny priest, Father Dan Carroll says needs to be debated.
He was speaking as an estimated €15 million is to be spent over the next 10 years on the renovation of St Mary’s Cathedral in the City.
Almost €4 million has already been spent, despite the Diocese having raised just €900,000 of that.
Fr Carroll told KCLR that while it is the Diocese of Ossory’s main Cathedral a conversation around whether or not the money could be better spent needs to be had.
