A Kilkenny Sinn Féin councillor says she would not support appointing unelected members of the Seanad to government.
This comes after Taoiseach Enda Kenny said he would consider the idea of bringing more outside-expertise to cabinet if he were elected for a second time.
Legally two ministers can come from the Seanad – opening the door for the Taoiseach to appoint someone to the Upper House just to put them in government.
Speaking to KCLR News, Councillor Kathleen Funchion says that changes would have to be introduced to the Seanad before the opposition could support such a move.
