“An absolute scandal” is how the removal of mortgage debt cases from the Master of the High Court is being described by a local TD.
John McGuinness has launched a scathing attack on the decision to take these cases away from Edmund Honohan – who he says was one of the few people who would actually hold banks accountable.
He was speaking in the Dáil, lending his support to a bill that would stop lenders from being able to transfer mortgages on houses without the consent of the borrower.
Deputy McGuinness says he believes Mr Honohan has been treated appallingly.
