A Kilkenny woman living in Greece has been outlining the impact of wildfires there on the region.
Hundreds of firefighters are battling a major forest fire which has sent a blanket of smoke over the capital.
Evacuation orders have been issued for more than a dozen areas – including a children’s and military hospital in the suburbs north of Athens.
The latest blaze which broke out yesterday afternoon has been fanned by strong winds and summer heatwave conditions.
