A quarry in South Kilkenny is set to expand after Kilkenny County Council gave it the go ahead.
The approval is subject to 35 conditions.
Roadstone sought permission to expand the Kilmacow Quarry to adjoining agricultural lands to the east where there is known quality reserves of aggregates.
The planned extension will take in an area of 10 point 3 hectares with the development involving blasting, extraction and processing of rock using mobile primary crushing / screening and associated plant on the quarry floor.
They’ll utilise existing establised infrastructure such as the entrance, offices, and car parks while two agricultural sheds will be demolished
The site will be subject to a restoration plan once the extraction activities have been completed at the site.
