64 arrests in Kilkenny as Operation Storm hits
64 arrests were made in Kilkenny as part of Operation Storm.
A handgun was seized in Kilkenny city and significant amounts of drugs have been recovered including the discovery of a cannabis grow-house in Ballyouskill.
11 people appeared before sittings of the local District Courts.
It’s part of the national Operation Thor which sees Gardaí concentrate a large number of their force on certain areas – North Kilkenny and the City are the focus of this operation.
130 Gardaí carried out over 30 planned searches, over 50 road checkpoints and carrying out arrests.
Superintendent Páraic Dunne says a number of preliminary searches were conducted earlier this week – 6 of those in relation to drugs in Urlingford.
Speaking to KCLR News this morning, the Superintendent says a substantial amount of drugs were also found in Castlecomer yesterday including €1,000 of heroin and between €20-25,000 worth of cannabis, cocaine and amphetamine.
